Teachers: What We Can Do For You (and your students)
1. How to search the collection effectively.
LOTS OF EXCITING AND USEFUL INFORMATION CAN STILL BE FOUND IN BOOKS!
Who knew?
2. How to organize and write a paper.
INCLUDES THE WRITING PROCESS, VARIOUS ORGANIZERS, HOW TO KEEP NOTES, AND HOW TO CITE SOURCES.
3. How to use the databases effectively.
AT NO EXTRA CHARGE STUDENTS CAN LEARN HOW TO DO THIS!
4. How not to plagiarize.
HELPS STUDENTS UNDERSTAND WHY PLAGIARISM IS WRONG, AND HOW TO MAKE SURE THEY’RE NOT DOING IT, EVEN ACCIDENTALLY (I.E. PROPER CITATION)
5. How to surf effectively.
FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T RESIST THE SIREN-CALL OF THE INTERNET, A SESSION ON HOW TO SEARCH EFFECTIVELY, AND HOW TO EVALUATE THE CREDIBILITY OF SITES can be given.

ALSO
- we can pull books for you to use in the library (the ‘pro’ is that students don’t have to find books on their own – the ‘con’ is that they don’t learn how to find books on their own)
- we can pull books for you to take to class (must be checked out/in)
- we can put books on reserve so students must use them in the library (available to all)
- we can acquire resources to support your teaching (curriculum, professional collection)
WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR US
- warning is wonderful (share the assignment with us in advance)
- make suggestions to help build the collection
- respect the policies (don’t book computers or library for more than three periods in a row without SPECIAL permission; inform the library when you cannot make your booking; don’t send your class to the library with a supply teacher unless absolutely necessary)
